Hello OUMU!
OUMU’s mission is to support artists and local businesses whenever possible when purchasing materials. It’s aim is to have happy customers that love and enjoy using OUMU's accessories, and finally... it’s promise is to deliver quality handmade items that will last for years to come. Meet Wen. Hello there. I am the owner and creator behind OUMU. I am a bit of a dabbler or one can say “jack of all trades, master of none”. That's not a bad thing. Really. I started off my career in IT, had 2 kids, went back to uni to study information management and am currently working in the library sector. During my downtime I will be working on OUMU. At the moment, I have a few projects going on that would keep me busy for a while... I am hoping to release new products & patterns soon. Other interesting facts about OUMU. - OUMU was born in 2017 thanks to my never-ending fabric stash. - I often get asked “How did you come up with the name OUMU?”. Well….It wasn’t easy to come up with a name that is short and sweet as well as a name that represents a bit of the Australia. Back in 2016, I did a short stint at a local art school. From there, my love for Australian cockatoos began. They are loud and vibrant - exactly what I want OUMU to represent. OUMU means ‘cockatoo’ in Japanese. I just love everything Japanese, so what could be more fitting than combining everything that I love into my business name... - All accessories are handmade in my home based Melbourne studio – my living room to be exact! - When things get really busy, it’s all hands on deck! Every family member will have an assigned task to do! :-) That’s it for now! x Want to keep up to date with what’s happening at OUMU? Please head over to: Instagram: @hellooumu Facebook: @hellooumu |
